About Paul
"However, I am hoping to see you soon, and we will speak face-to-face. May you have peace. The friends send you their greetings. Give my greetings to the friends" - 3 John 1:1-14. I look forward to meeting all my Brothers in person, this just a start at an introduction.
Let me introduce myself
I am a quiet person who enjoys association with my fellow Brothers and Sisters in our Congregation. We try to arrive early and stay after meetings about 25-30 minutes to get all the association we can, much of it by listening to others. Due to our health it is often all the time we get to spend with them for the entire week. We really appreciate the tie-in when one or both of us of us can't attend physically. Service is hard for me as I can not think on the fly and walking and standing is painful. A real blessing that happened during the 2019 Covid out break was letter writing with allows both of us the ability to do more in service. My presentations are rehearsed my answers are one or two sentences. Nevertheless, it is wonderful to know that Jehovah accepts what we do, as long as it is our best.
I have been married to my wonderful Wife since October 1999. I knew Kathy as a fellow Sister in the congregation for some 10 years. During the time we were building our new Kingdom Hall In 1997-98 we each discovered that we had been curious about the other. I loved how she was willing to get in there and get dirty with the Brothers rather than hang out in the Sisick's kitchen and garage that is next to the hall where the Sisters served the wonderful meals and snacks. I had been waiting my life to find the right Sister I wanted to spend eternity with. I was not in a rush, If I had to wait until the new system I was willing. After all, eternity is a long time, and I want to spend it with the right mate. We have the same interests and goals in life. We got married at that very hall we both had a part in building as a quick build in 1997. Our health has declined since and we are now hindered a lot from doing many things. The new system will be a great relief to us both from great and constant pain that each of us have for different reasons and ways. We have each been a great strength to each other to cope with this old system, we are so blessed to have each other.
We look forward to exploring many hobbies and interests and skills that we can not now, but we would love to pursue in the new system. We also look forward to meeting all of our earth wide Brothers and Sisters in person, and working together to make this earth the paradise it was originally meant to be. In health, without pain and sharp minds. (Minor update 9/7/2023)
As of the the December 2023 Governing body update #8 it is now OK for Brothers to grow beards and be used in the congregation. WOW! It seems so weird that it is ok now. As soon as Kathy heard the announcement on ROKU, She said Woo-hoo you can grow a beard now. Kathy is the one who requested I grow a mustache when we got married and I was happy to try that out then, now I am ready to try a out a beard. I downloaded Android FaceApp to see what it could look like. I showed this first one to many Brothers at the next meeting. All but one(cecil) who thought it made me look old, liked the look. These beards are based on the first officer Will Riker character in ST:Next Generation.
Interests
We both like like Nature, Sci-Fi, Space, Science, Astronomy, Music. We look forward to seeing where these and other interests take us in the new system with new found health and clear thinking abilities.
Ham radio (K7VIQ(we gave up the hobby due to the complexity of keeping up equipment and operations working), Kathy is KD7PJW(Pretty Jehovah Witness ;) The only contact sport we are interested in. We look forward to taking radio up further in the new system.
2019 on - I sometimes take bouts of learning Morse code. More on this in our Ham pages called Us2Hams particularly CW and My Keys.
I used to Camp, Hike, Ride bicycle (rode to coast(60 miles) twice), Scuba dive, Weld, and be a general handyman. I will get back to these in the new system when my mind and body work again.
2019 I have spent some hobby time trying to learn to play piano and taking a stab at learning Esperanto language but found my brain was not up to it.
I look forward to doing these things again and learning many more things that I know I can not now even imagine.
In 2022 and 2023 I did some diamond dot mosaic art. My biggest project is a 32" African Elephant Landscape with 80,089 1/8' pieces. As of 9/7/23 I have not gotten back to finishing it.
Goals
In the new system, I want to do whatever work that Jehovah commissions us to do along with my Wife Kathy.
Kathy and I look forward to having children once we have helped prepare the earth for them. She says 6 of them.
I look forward to learning to play instruments, such as guitar, piano and playing various flute styles.
I also look forward to Blowing glass and Working with metal in a large shop big enough for all of our interests.
I look forward to traveling the world with Kathy by horse, by sea, by air and beyond.
To travel the sea in a tall masted sailing ship with a group of Brothers and Sister at the sails sounds like a lot of fun.
I look forward to working with horses and even elephants.
I really look forward to when I can do all these things and more in health with my Wife, Family and Friends.
Work history
Disabled
Disabled, 2006 - Present
I became disabled in 2006 as I can no longer work at a pace or be a reliable employee as needed for an employer. Mornings are reliably horrible and often lead well into the afternoon and throughout the day. I try to do what I can around our home in small spells on afternoons and evenings as I am able. Still the same 9/7/23 but we look forward to the end.
Vocational Rehabilitation
Goodwill Electronics, 2006
I went through Voc. Rehab for four weeks at Goodwill to try to find a position I could do primarily while seated. Because of my interest in electronics, they had me spend my time cleaning and testing electronics in preparation to sell, while we did very little repair on items the job still took some brain power. It was a fun job but Goodwill reported back to Voc. Rehab that I am to slow to be hirable. I was then place on disability. I look forward to being more active again one day.
Husband to Kathy
Husband, 1999 - Present
The best job a man can have is to try to be a good husband to his wife and family. From October, 2 1999 to 7 days past eternity ;) Serving Jehovah and loving my Wife are my main occupations, all others are to support that goal.
