This page has some notable updates. I do my daily updates in google doc for the few who will be interested in how I am doing at my daily progress. This page has my notable progress points.
7/26/23 at 13/5 - M.C. World QSO 500HZ. I would love to speed up, but I am still concentrating and using all of the Farnsworth spacing time between letters to decode Di's & Dah’s particularly on longer characters and pro-signs. This concentration does wear on the brain and takes rest or a relaxing change of activity to partially recoup. I wish I could just speed up the shorter chr’s codes and spacing after them and just decrease Farnworth spacing for and after the chr’s that I still need more time with.
7/31/23 at 14/5 - M.C. World QSO 500HZ. Waiting for another breakthrough in speed and a decrease in Farnsworth spacing. It is a real exercise of patience and stamina of keeping on trying after all the decades of me trying to learn code to the point of making it more useful.
8/6/2023 16/6 - A good challenge for my brain but Did well in the first QSO practice. Second practice was longer and did ok to good. As long as it's a challenge and makes me use my brain, then there is a chance of progressing to be better, even if I am still needing Farnworth spacing. Practice at 16/6 seems to be my current practice range being a challenge but having success.
Aug. 7-8, 2023 - 16/6 - Challenging and I missed a lot but got enough. So I did ok. So I plan to practice here until ready for a change. The rate is fast enough that eventually I may not have to count but have a chance of starting to learn by sound, once that happens I will need less Farnsworth spacing.
Di Dah Day
Even if I can't code without Farnsworth yet, there is no reason to fret.
Even if I can’t practice on the air, the challenge is always there.
There will be a day, when any Di Dah I play, I will be what I want to say. - K7VIQ
Aug. 16, 2023 - M.C. World QSO 500HZ 16/6 Received & Sent Once. A challenge but did ok., and almost good. Sending: Need practice using QSO to practice sending using Kent & QRP Osc. Don't forget to turn off the coin battery. R x1 & S x1
Aug 16, 2023 - I got a Gmail From Catherine Goodrich W4CMG from Nashville, TN saying: "Just took a peek at your QRZ page - you have all sorts of cool keys to play with! Just keep at it, and when you're set to get on the air, let me know. We can have a Kent-to-Kent QSO and exchange FISTS numbers. No one says you have to be fast to get on the air, AND with FISTS, one can get a really cool patch - for free - after sending an email showing that you had a minimum 10-minute QSO. We can definitely do that - if the propagation princess cooperates :) 73, Cathy W4CMG". So I replied: "I will have to try to remember that. A cool patch from Fists, A certificate from LICW, and a cool CW entry to add the online logs. I had better get practicing."
Aug. 17, 2023 - M.C. World QSO 500HZ 16/6 Received & Sent Once. Received good. Sending was not bad, but I need to work on timing how long I hold paddles, Thats OK as I know timing is my sending weakness. My bad timing is why I use a paddle and could not learn music. R x1 & S x1
Aug 20, 2023 - Morse code speed summary of CW skills: I went through my study doc sheets to see about any needed study changes to help me learn code. Looking at my practice log to see patterns. What speed should I train at considering my learning limitations? What is the minimum speed I can do but still get on the air?
Sept. 6, 2023 - Study page 2 was getting long and I ordered a Morserino and thought it would be a good time to create a third page. My Page 3 Morse Code Study History from Sept. 6, 2023 to present study.
